FOSTER FARMS Help us Save them One at a time We are in need of additional foster farms. Individuals with an extra stall, and Boarding Stables with an extra stall are encouraged to help us save one more life. Individuals who have an additional stall can help by taking in one of our horses on the waiting list until we find him a home, or have room at our main facility for him. All expenses related to his care are tax-deductible.
SPONSORS $5 goes a long way... 5 and $5 = $25: You can also help defray the cost of caring for that horse through our Community Partner Program. Your co-workers, child's 4-H group or friends can join together and each make a small contribution each month toward the care of the horse you are fostering for us. Five committed individuals giving $5 each per month is a $25 monthly donation toward the care of the foster horse.
20 and $2 = $40: Boarding Stables - you can be a great source of foster help if you have an empty stall. And, you can get your boarders involved by asking them to be a Community Partner with Bright Futures Farm. Their contribution can help defray the cost of caring for the horse while he's with you. If you've got 20 boarders who are willing to contribute $2 each per month, that's $40 toward the care of that horse while he's with you. It's a great way to help. And it's very rewarding to know you're making the difference in the life of a horse that may not otherwise be alive.

LARGER NEEDS By spring, 2007 at the latest, we will need a new pickup truck. Right now, we have a 1996 Chevy 2500, 2-WD. It's been a good truck, but we are to the point where the cost to repair is beginning to exceed the value of the truck. We need at least a 3/4 ton truck with 4-WD. It may be asking a lot, but we hope that one of you who reads this has a good used truck that you'd consider donating to us. Forgoing a truck payment each month would allow us to care for more horses. If we have to make a truck payment, we will have to reduce the number of horses we care for by two. This donation is also tax deductible. ----------- Our next goal - a larger facility so that we can start a Therapeutic Equine Program for American Military Veterans and Disabled Children Animal assisted therapy, specifically, Equine Therapy is a proven method to help physically and emotionally sensitive individuals make great progress in managing their illnesses. It brings success in therapy and provides joy and a sense of accomplishment for the individual. Part of our mission is to give back. Over the last six years so many individuals and communities have helped us. We have always wanted to help individuals who would benefit by spending time with the horses, and now we have the opportunity to do so. We just need YOUR help. We have an opportunity to move to a 34 acre property owned by two of our board members. They have generously offered us the use of the land and we could certainly use the additional space at this time. We currently operate from about 15 acres (only 12 fenced) and have outgrown the farm. We are eager to establish an Equine Therapeutic Program for both disabled children and American Military Veterans (there's nothing in Western PA for the vets). There are a number of programs for children in Western PA, but still not enough to help all of the kids that would benefit from the Therapy. What do we need to get started? The land is there, but we need a barn* and an arena. The barn can come first so the horses have a home, and we can easily start with an outdoor arena until the funds are available to construct an indoor. After much research and numerous estimates, we got a great price from a local contractor for a pole barn. We can get the shell, 30 X 80 X 10 for $25,000. For another $8,000 we can have the floor, windows, and stalls finished. We'll do all of the inside work, but need the materials. We are looking for corporate sponsors and grants to help us pay for the construction of the barn. There are various levels of sponsorship, and the barn will be named by the largest individual sponsor providing a gift of at least $5000. If you know of any companies/individuals who would be able to help us with this endeavor, please put us in touch with them. This is an important next step in our organization's mission. Animal assisted therapy has done wondrous things that conventional therapies couldn't do. *the barn shown in the photo is 50X100X16. The barn we are pricing is 30X80X10. Style is the same.
