Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury.  Our dedication has grown to include horses that are difficult to find homes for...older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, and older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

Ponies

I. C. Blue Halo (Hayley)

1998 white Welsh pony cross mare.  12.2 hands.

Hayley is a dreamboat!  She is every little girls dream as you can see from the photos!  She's a "large small" pony.  She is Very Fancy!  She will need a lightweight rider due to her small, petite stature...Rider should not weight more than 110 pounds.  She is currently ridden 2 times a week.  Hayley is a very  nice mover, can win any hack class. She's super at walk/trot/canter and can do anything on the flat that she's asked to.  She would be a perfect addition to a family who has small children as she is absolutely a safe choice for beginners/kids/ small adults on the flat.

She was fast tracked and not kindly at an early age to jump, so if you want to jump her, she needs to get to know you and your attitude, approach, etc. before she can comfortably jump for you.  Once she gets to know you she is awesome for someone who wants to  jump a few little jumps.  She sometimes over jumps the jump, but she's a very nice, fluid jumper.  She can go down the line quickly with a big stride when jumping.  She is a real looker when she is working.  After you jump a couple of lines, she may raise her head in anticipation, so she would be best with a smooth D ring snaffle and a martingale.  She really needs to bond with you before you start jumping her as she does get nervous if she thinks you're pushing her at the verticals.

She knows the difference between a child and adult rider.  She's as safe as a horse could be with a child on her back.  She's awesome at lead line and longe line.  She will win any under saddle class hands down.  Take your time with her...ask her, don't drill her...she'll get nervous if you drill her.  She knows her job and just needs to trust that you know yours.  She's also a super trail horse.  She can do anything.  Hayley is in our program because her daughter has lost interest in riding.  She owned Rosco, whom we have available for adoption, and she also owned Don Gregory whom we have available for adoption.  Hayley is a super little gal who would be the perfect first pony for the girl who wants to show and wants a friend to show with!

Jiminy Cricket (Titan)

1989 bay Shetland pony cross gelding. 14.2  hands. sideway "S" brand on left shoulder

Titan is a wonderful boy with a super personality.  He has done jumpers in the past as well as lessons.  He has some arthritis in his right shoulder and is blind in his left eye.  The blindness is a non issue. He has been successfully ridden in a therapeutic program in New Castle called Freedom Reins for the past year.  However, their horses are stalled most of the day.  Turnout is 2-4 hours a day (they board and that is the stable's policy).  Since he's not getting enough turnout, and he's not ridden every day, he's stiff.   Titan needs a place where he can get more exercise so that he's not stiff when he is being ridden.  He would be best suited to a situation where he can be outside most of the day or most of the night.  He is a sweetheart to be around, and everyone at Freedom Reins is very unhappy about making the decision to let him go, but he needs exercise, and he's not getting enough there.

Titan has been placed with T. Jewell of PA
