Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is re-homing off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury…horses unwanted by their owners and sent to auction where most are purchased for slaughter.  Our dedication has grown to include providing sanctuary for older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, including older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

the horse I named our farm after!

Quarter Horse

Beta

1992 buckskin Quarter Horse/Quarter Pony.  Standing at 14.2 hh she qualifies to be both.

Beta is a very sweet girl.  She gets along with other horses, tacks easily, and almost always stands to mount and dismount.  She is a real professional under saddle.   She's very willing and doesn't "spook".   Beta would be a great first horse for an amateur/novice rider and a super choice for Pony Club.  Beta's favorite gait is "trot", and she had great "brakes", so you do need to know how to cue a horse to ride Beta.

She is a FUN HORSE TO RIDE!

Butler (Stetson)

2007 solid bay QH/Appaloosa gelding. 14.3 hands.

Butler is smart and has a great work ethic.  He's willing to do what is asked of him and picks things up quickly.  He has wonderful conformation and cutting bloodlines (Doc Bar bred).  He would make a great WP,  roping, cutting horse.  He loves "going places".  Butler arrived at his new foster home with Cynthia Hopkins on May 29.  Butler is quick, can stop or turn on a dime and is  an awesome horse  He trail rides, is traffic safe (see the picture I took while driving the truck - he was trotting beside me!), isn't spooky, can be ridden bareback with halter and lead, will go alone or with other horses and with dogs.  He can be ridden by a confident amateur rider.

Butler has been placed with Cynthia Hopkins

Cynthia is a professional trainer in Northwestern PA.  You can reach Cynthia at:

Codi

2005 Sorrel Quarter Horse mare. 14.2 hh. Small star, dot above each eye.

Codi is a great girl. She's very smart. Show her something once or twice and she "gets it". Loves variety. Great on trails.

 Oz

2000 bay QH cross gelding. 15.2  hands. Star

Oz is beautiful and a willing worker.  Great personality.  He will do whatever you ask of him.  Great at flatwork, on trails, or in the Dressage Arena, you can always count on him to give his very best.  He has competed at Dressage and won several ribbons.  He is used to showing and trail riding.  He's very good on trails with other horses.  Has not been ridden on trails alone, so an intermediate rider should take him on a lone ride first to see if he's nervous.  Oz can be ridden by a novice with supervision.

Oz's has been placed with P. Allen and Pray Road Therapeutic Riding Program a NARHA certified facility in NY

Storybook (Story)

2005 sorrel QH cross gelding. 14.3  hands. Baldface, 4 stockings

Story is a beautiful, kind little guy with a great personality.  He's smart, curious and brave.  We were told he had 30 days under saddle prior to arriving at BFF, and we sent him for an additional 30 days with Stephanie Rickerson.  Story should make a great little hunter pony or pleasure horse.

Story has been placed with Sarah S & family of NY
