Bright Futures Farm is a sanctuary for retired Thoroughbreds.  We find homes for many horses that have the potential for a new career as a trail horse or family pleasure mount.   Our focus is to save as many horses as we can before  they are faced with neglect or auction.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

H

Bear.  Bear was born approximately March 8, 2008.  We found him in our pasture huddled against a tree with most of the horses staring at him curiously.  He appears to be a Lab mix, but that is a guess.  As of October 1, 2008 he is approximately 2 feet tall, and weighs approximately 30 pounds.  He is not going to be a large dog.  We are guessing he will be on the small end of a medium size dog.  He loves to play, thrives on attention and is very curious.   He would be a great puppy for a family.  He loves people and gets along with other dogs and cats.

Bear is available to adopt.  He needs a new home soon!  We love him, but puppies take a lot of time, and while he is getting a good amount of personal attention, he is not getting as  much individual attention here as I would like to give him.

Adoption fee is  $90. Which covers only 1/2 of his three office visits and initial series of baby shots.   We require that he be neutered within one week of adoption**.

Freckles & Spec.  Freckels and Spec (Speckles) were wandering the property for a week before we could catch them.  No momma in sight.  When we were able to pick them up, they were very thin and needed multiple feedings each day  They were born approximately the second week in September, so they are approximately 5-6 weeks old now (October 10th).

Very playful, they crave attention and purr whenever they are held.  They are very sweet kittens and need a forever home.  We would like them to be adopted as pairs, but it is not necessary.  We firmly believe that all animals thrive emotionally when they are not alone.

All kittens are available to adopt the week of November 1.  You can place a deposit on any kitten and we will hold that kitten for you until he/she has had his/her initial series of shots and have been tested for feline leukemia (they are too young yet to be tested...we have them scheduled for the end of this month).  Adoption fee is $40 per kitten.  This does not begin to cover the cost to have them vetted or care for them but does help offset some of our costs.  You will be required to have your kitten spayed/neutered**.

**Adopters are required to have puppies and kittens either spayed or neutered within one week of their six month birthday and provide Bright Futures Farm with a copy of the invoice within three business days of the surgery.  If you do not have the puppy or kitten spayed or neutered within one week of their six month birthday (we will send you a reminder), we will repossess the animal, have the surgery done, and place him/her into a new home.  Please understand...we are very strict on this matter as we would not have these animals if it weren't for irresponsible owners.  At six months of age, these babies will be physically able to reproduce, and we don't want any "accidents" occurring.
