"Feed/water is provided as well as fresh shavings."
When the driver pulled up beside our driveway on 8-2-07, 12:40 am... we were standing beside the driver's door telling him where to turn around so he could enter the driveway from the correct angle (trainers can't enter from the East)...we could smell the stench of manure and urine from inside the trailer... from where we were standing. Mrs. Haugh's comment about how horrid it smelled was even captured on our video of the arrival. We captured footage of the inside of the trailer when the horses were unloaded. There were no fresh shavings on the floor. The floor was however, covered in manure and urine. Our opinion, based upon how much manure was already on the trailer floor, was that the trailer had not been cleaned for more than a day and there were three horses on it during most of that 24-26 hour period. Even for just one day, that's a good amount of manure and urine.
When Jim (driver) walked to the storage room in the front of the trailer to get Daphne's halter for me, I followed him, and looked inside. There were western saddle blankets, a number of halters, leather head gear and buckets, but I did not see any feed nor did I see any bags of shavings or remnants of bags. Granted, it was very disorganized inside, and it would have been difficult to see many things in there, but a feed bag and a shavings bag if full, are both large enough to be relatively easy to see.

"Other information: (Is there anything else we need to know about your reservation or quote request?)"
This question would leave most people believing that these people are conscientious, considerate and accommodating individuals. If they had been conscientious, considerate and accommodating to my SPECIFICALLY STATED NEEDS (stated both verbally and by fax), Daphne would still be alive. Jim's actions were not accidental in nature, and the death of Daphne was not an accident. Jim's actions were a series of poor judgment decisions that escalated as this incident grew over the span of 29 hours.

Quotes taken from page: "transport-agreement[1].pdf":
► "S&E Transport agrees to provide hay, water and fresh shavings for each horse while in transit. Feed is provided during stopping periods of 4 hours or longer."
Looking back, and seeing things I did not see before - as when I ship I either provide my own feed, or just hay - I would not want someone choosing the feed for my horse during a trip, or choosing the amount of feed my horse is given. There are too many variables during shipping. I do not believe any grain should be provided unless there is a lay over, and then, only a minimal amount. This company does not state any specifics about what or how much or when specifically, they will feed your horse. they don't tell you how long after feeding that they start moving again. They don't even have a place on their contract asking you if you want them to feed your horse anything other than hay. I am sure once they read my concerns on this web site, they will make a number of changes to their documentation to cover all of the things we, as shippers, should be concerned about. And, it may be that we don't all agree on the same issues being concerns, but these are mine, and I'm sure, that after reading the facts herein and my observations, every one of you will agree with at least one point I make.
► "Each vehicle is equipped with First Aid kits for treatment while in transit for emergency use."
When Tiny collapsed due to heat exhaustion and stress, Gordy stepped on her head, right eye, inside of her LH leg above the hock, and she scraped her hip bones on each side and had two hematomas as a result. Click here for photos taken less than an hour after she came off S&E's trailer. Video tape confirms that there was no cleaning or treating of her wounds at all until she arrived at our farm and we treated her.
So, I don't know what they consider an emergency, but obviously, they don't consider the injuries you will see in the photos an emergency.
