Bright Futures Farm is an equine charity whose primary focus is off the track Thoroughbreds...horses that can no longer race due to disinterest or injury.  Our dedication has grown to include horses that are difficult to find homes for...older horses that are unwanted after their "useful years" are over, and older stallions that cannot be gelded due to the risk of complications.

We are always in need of foster homes.  When you foster a horse you help us save one more from harm.  Fostering expenses are tax-deductible.  If you have room, please ask us about our foster program.

The Plight of "Premarin mares"

There are still many mares at risk on "Premarin Farms".  Premarin (PregnantMareUrine...Premarin), a brand name for an estrogen replacement drug is made from conjugated Pregnant Mare Urine.  After much controversy and alleged health issues for women, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, eliminated most if not all of their advertising of these products (Premarin, Prempro and Premphase) and moved much of their operation overseas. 

They have since come out with a new drug,  Aprela, which is also produced with conjugated urine from pregnant mares.  Read more about this new drug and the horrid live these mares live via the links below.

There are many other estrogen replacement therapies available that do not rely on the urine of pregnant mares as an ingredient.  Please look for alternative therapies if you need hormone replacement therapy.
